Iryna PatskovskaIryna Patskovska

• ACE certification
• CPR/A.E.D Certified
• B.S. in Paralegal Studies

Fitness is my life. Born in Ukraine, I started playing tennis when I was 4 years old. My role model was my tennis coach who inspired my love for health and fitness. Since then, I have continued to exercise regularly.  My main goals have been to focus on improving endurance, core strength, and flexibility.

My first venture into fitness at Club Fit was to teach the Forever Fit class twice a week.  The class is comprised of members between the ages of 50-85. The class was a great learning experience for both the members and myself. This is when I realized how much I truly enjoyed teaching and sharing my knowledge of fitness. My passion for fitness resulted in the completion off my A.C.E. Personal Training certification. In college, I successfully completed my B.S. in Paralegal Studies at Mercy College, but decided my true desire was to teach fitness and helping people achieve their goals.

My first fitness challenge were my parents who a year ago, refused to attend the gym, not recognizing the importance of good health. Now they come 4 times a week regularly and they are willing to learn new workout techniques.  They are no longer fearful of exercise.

I am looking forward to attending Columbia University in the near future to complete my M.B.A. in Management and B.A. in Sports Management.

Fitness has always been important part of my life.  Playing football in high school led me toward the world of fitness.  Football required me to stay fit and continue to research and the learn the latest techniques and methods for obtaining maximum results.  This especially advanced my knowledge in power and mass building methods.  I was captain of varsity football both my junior and senior years and had a championship season as a senior at Xaverian High School.

I am currently a senior attending Pace University.  I played football as a college freshman but was unable to continue because of injury.  I will complete my B.S. in Biology, and will continue onto graduate school for physical therapy.  I chose this field because I have always been interested in learning and teaching the science of exercise and rehabilitation.  I believe anyone is capable of achieving their goals with the right direction and dedication.

C.P.R./A.E.D. Certified
B.A. Psychology

Growing up in a family of six children, I was hardly ever alone.  Being around people has always felt natural and comfortable for me.  I cannot even imagine having been an only child or even just having a couple of siblings.  There was a certain dynamic that my house took as result of the chaotic nature of six children vs. one single parent.  My mom certainly had the deck stacked against her.  Much as we posed a formidable opposition, however, she came out victorious and raised six pretty good children.

I graduated from Sleepy Hollow High School as part of the famed “Class of 2000” – though the debate still exists as to the comparative significance of the “Last Class of the Old Millennium” vs. that of the “First Class of the New Millennium”.  Nonetheless time will tell how significant either of these classes were as the world slowly begins to be run by that generation.

With this in mind, I like to think that I have begun my contribution to the success of this generation.  Aside from being a hardworking, personable young man, I am beginning a career in teaching.  I am excited about the opportunity to help educate and develop the minds of children with so much potential.  The best part about teenagers is their willingness to listen – eventually – and better themselves under the guidance of an adult they trust.  I am already enjoying this as one of the rewards of my full-time job as a Teaching Assistant for Southern Westchester BOCES in Irvington High School.  By September of 2008, I will be a full-time, NYS Certified High School Math Teacher.

Currently I am Club Fit’s Fitness Operations Coordinator – a lengthy way of saying I fix stuff.  This stuff includes the Fitlinxx, Fitness Assessment and other fitness equipment.  I also maintain and repair Club Fit’s Cardio Theater and overhead sound systems, which simply makes the world a better place.  I am an aspiring songwriter and musician – no really, I am.  I am learning to play the guitar and recently began to write and record my own original music.  I am in the very beginning stages of developing this side of myself, but am extremely excited and eager to start.  I have been an employee of Club Fit’s Fitness Department since July of 2002, and the club has become to me what it becomes to so many people – home.  Joining Club Fit’s staff was one of the best things I’ve ever done, and I look forward to continuing to enjoy the benefits of working here.

My true love for movement started early in life. I began classical ballet training at age 7 and have been active ever since. After 10 years in the field of ballet I transitioned into the health and fitness industry. I started teaching group fitness at its inception in the early 1980’s. I have been an ACE certified personal trainer since the early 1990’s.  I have also had the experience of leading the fitness center and staff here at Club Fit as Fitness Director.

During this satisfying journey I have gathered much practical knowledge and experience along the way. Currently, I have decided to work at what I have found to be the most rewarding and personally satisfying for me, which is training at the personal level.

My focus is to increase a person’s stamina and endurance to let them enjoy their life to the fullest.  I do this by listening and evaluating individual issues, needs, wants, interests, medical concerns, lifestyle and goals. I then devise an exercise program specifically for each person. I emphasize proper posture, alignment and execution of each exercise. I concentrate on flexibility, balance and efficient movement patterns for everyday living, core stability and strength training for strong muscles and bones, and cardio training for heart health and weight loss.

My name is Michael Parletta and I've worked for Club Fit for 20 year as a trainer. I attended the University of Alaska, Fairbanks where I earned a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Engineering Technology.

During my college experience, I was a member of the UAF Varsity Wrestling Team. During my senior year, I earned a record 8 wins and 2 losses. That same year, I placed 4th in the prestigious Artic Winter Games in Yellowknife NWT, Canada, in the Greco-Roman Division,148 lbs weight class.

Phil Toretta has been a trainer for Club Fit since 2002.  He has worked as a full time trainer for several years while also acquiring his Masters in Counseling at Fordham University in the evenings.  He is currently a 9th Grade School Counselor at John Jay Sr. High School with the Wappingers School District where he feels he really makes a difference in his student's lives.  Phil also enjoys helping children of all ages, whether in fitness or academics.  He is also working on a children's book, which he hopes to get published in the near future.  Phil works in the fitness center part time and during the summers.  He enjoys the variety, which Club Fit has to offer both for himself and for his clients from the fitness center to the wide selection of classes and specialized programs.  Phil feels very strongly that fitness is an essential component for a healthy mind and body.  He always strives to provide the correct modifications in an exercise program to suite the specific needs and goals of his clients.  And follows up with them to make sure they are meeting their fitness goals.  He enjoys working with any population, from the beginner to the athlete.  He says he "thrives from the challenge of meeting his clients specific goals".  Phil is proud to admit that he still works occasionally with his very first client, who still meets with him every few months to enhance his program.  Phil will be providing instructional workshops on the "Super Slow" weight lifting technique in July.

Sean Weil Sean Weil

• B.A. Psychology
A.C.E. Certified Personal Trainer
C.P.R./A.E.D. Certified
Kinesis Instructor

Personal Trainer Sean Weil came to exercise later in life.  Tipping the scales at 300 lbs. in 1990, he decided he had to do something about it.  A daily gym fix, as well as a change in eating habits, helped him lose 100+ lbs., which he has kept off (more or less) for 17 years.  As with anything he does, Sean takes it to extremes.  He trained for and completed in the NYC Marathon after not running for so much as the bus prior.

Sean comes from a diverse background.  He is a professional actor, appearing in film, television and on the stage.  In NYC, he bartended at Gramercy Tavern, Zagat #1 rated restaurant 4 years running.  An accomplished chef, Sean loves to cook because it goes hand in hand with eating.  Just because you lose weight doesn't mean you don't have a life!  In another lifetime he was a championship ballroom dancer, and still likes to cut the rug with his wife Virginia now and then.  Currently, he coaches his son Dylan's Little League team, if the Yankees don't pry him away to replace Torre.

High intensity training is what Sean likes best.  He trained with Luke Blackwell in London for 2 years, who competed in the Sahara Desert Run and the Extreme Himalayan Trek.  Cardiovascular benefits from resistance training is one of the tenets of Mr. Blackwell's philosophy.  Combining isolation, balance, full body and core techniques, form is stressed over load.  To Sean, focusing on what you're doing is paramount and helps to yield better results.  "Put as much mental energy into your workout as physical and you will feel a true sense of accomplishment."
