Boy Scout Merit Badges

Fulfill the requirements for the Swimming Merit Badge and the Lifesaving Merit Badge, both of which are an eagle merit badge that can be used for the rank toward becoming an Eagle Scout.

Courses are taught by Boy Scout Counselor Adrienne Davies. Adrienne holds various certifications from the American Red Cross including WSI, WSIT, LGT and LGIT. There must be a minimum of 5 scouts for course to run, and a maximum of 10.

 


Swimming Merit Badge

Must attend all classes in a session. Classes held from 7:00 - 9:30 pm.

  • Blue card from your Scoutmaster prior to the start of each program

Lifesaving Merit Badge

Fulfill the requirements for the Lifesaving Merit Badge which is an eagle merit badge that can be used for the rank toward becoming an Eagle Scout.

  • Friday, April 7th

Must attend all classes. Classes held from 7:00 - 10:00 pm.

Lifesaving Merit Badge Prerequisites:

  • Age: 12 to 17 years
  • Must know how to swim
  • Pass the Boy Scout of America Swim Test
  • Blue card from your Scoutmaster prior to the start of each program
  • Swimming Merit Badge
  • Prerequisite: Bring Blue card from Swimming Merit Badge

Pool Temperatures
We offer different classes and skill levels to accommodate each student’s individual swimming goals. Lessons are taught in a fun-filled environment where students learn the basic techniques of swimming and safety skills are emphasized. Water temperature is kept at a temperature of 86 degrees in the Program Pool and 81 degrees in the Lap Pool, an ideal for comfort.

Bad Weather
The Aquatics Center closes for 30 minutes from the last sound of thunder or sighting of lightning, which on some days may be reoccurring.
To inquire if the pool is open or if your class has been cancelled due to thunder or poor road conditions, please contact the Front Desk at (914) 245-4040 for the most up-to-date information.

Check-In
All participants are required to check in at the Reception Desk before each class. If payment is due, please take care of it at this time before class.

Aquatic Program Registration
To register for one of our programs, click here for the Aquatics Registration Form. In order to secure your spot, payment must be taken at either the Reception Desk or by calling the Aquatics Department at (914) 250-2735.

Rinsing Showers
Please rinse off before entering either of the pools or whirlpool.
