Kids' Swim Lessons
Kids' Group Swim Lessons are for children who are ready to take independent lessons with an American Red Cross-certified instructor in a group class setting. Registering your child for the appropriate class and level ensures that he or she will have the best opportunity to succeed. The information below will help you to decide which class is best for your child.
ARC Level I WATER EXPLORATION
Child must be 6 years or up. The objective of this class is to help the child feel comfortable in the water. Skills to be introduced: water adjustment, breath control, buoyancy, entering/exiting water, front/back kicking with support, and using arm strokes for short distances. No floatation devices will be used.

ARC Level II PRIMARY SKILLS
To enter class, children must be able to swim on their belly using basic beginner strokes without any assistance from a person or floatation device. Children will learn to fully submerge underwater, increase breath control, glide on front, float on front/back with/without support, flutter kick on front/back, and begin to swim the front crawl.

ARC Level III STROKE READINESS
To enter, children must be able to swim independently on their front/back and demonstrate beginner level alternating arm stroke for the front crawl. Children will be focusing on front/back crawl. This class will also feature introduction to treading water, and elementary backstroke.

ARC Level IV STROKE DEVELOPMENT
Children must be able to perform all of the skills in Level 3 to enter this class. Children will focus on developing front/back crawl, elementary backstroke, and breaststroke. This class will increase swimmers endurance by swimming strokes for greater distances.
ARC Level V STROKE REFINEMENT
Child must be able to perform all of the skills in Level 4 to enter this class. Children will focus on coordination of skills and refinement of all strokes learned in previous levels. Turns will be introduced as well as practice of underwater skills.

Participants are allowed one make-up class that occurs during the make-up week of October 27th - November 2nd. No make-ups and/or refunds will be provided if the participant cannot make the scheduled dates. In the event of a pool closure or lesson cancellation due to inclement weather, a replacement lesson will be organized by the instructor.
Minimum Enrollment: Minimum of three participants required for class to run. If less than three participants register for a class, you will be informed the week before your class start date and may choose to join a different class or have semi-private or private lessons coordinated.
Goggles, swim caps and ear plugs are available for purchase at the reception desk.

All participants are required to check in at the front desk before each class. If payment is due, you may take care of it at this time as well as before class.
