Adult Karate

Training in Karate offers many physical benefits: enhanced strength, fitness and stamina, grace and fighting ability, as well as mental and spiritual benefits.
 
Skills taught will include stances, blocks, punches & kicks, but your will also learn balance & coordination, and how to flow smoothly from one movement to the next.
 
The class is open to practitioners of any level, and participants will be able to progress to the next appropriate belt. Participants will be expected to follow Karate rules as follows:
  • No shoes in class
  • Feet must be clean, with toenails trimmed
  • When entering or exiting the mat, always bow and say "Osu"
  • Always line up to the left of senior students
  • Hand shake with two hands and bow to higher rank
  • Address higher rank by proper titles
  • Advanced students always yield to lower ranked students when fighting
  • No jewelry
  • No food or drinks while training
  • No talking

Shihan Kenji Suzuki, who will instruct the class, is a 5th degree black belt in both Karate and Judo. His rank of Shihan signifies that he is master of Karate. He has been studying and teaching for over 15 years, at The World Oyama Karate Headquarters in Manhattan, and recently opening his own dojo. He teaches Japanese full contact Karate.

Uniforms can be purchased through the instructor for $45, but are not required. However, shin guards and hand guards are mandatory and can be purchased from the instructor for $20. Orders and payments can be made at the first class.

Co-Ed Pick Up Soccer

Free for Club Fit members! Informal indoor co-ed pick up soccer every Friday evening.

We play 5v5 no keeper, level of play is competitive but fun!

The court is reserved for us from 8:00 - 10:00pm, teams rotate constantly so we get plenty of touches and a good work out!

Group size is limited to 15 max so you must RSVP!

Sneakers/flat bottom shoes only.

Fridays through April 11th

Indoor Triathlon

Format:

  • 10-minute swim (lap pool)
  • 30-minute bike (e-spinners in fitness center)
  • 20-minute run (treadmill)

10-minute limit for pool to spin bike transition. 5 minute limit for bike to treadmill transition.

Distances will be recorded for each discipline. Winner will be decided based on points scoring system.

Each competitor will be assigned a start time. No prior triathlon experience required.

Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

FREE for members of the Club Fit Tri Club.

Pickleball

There's a new racquet sport in town - Pickleball!

Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the nation. This min-tennis game is a combination of Ping-Pong, tennis and badminton, played with graphite paddles and unique plastic balls.

It is easy to learn, provides plenty of exercise, and is played on a court smaller than a tennis court.

We have a limited supply of paddles, so please bring your own, if you can.
