Maureen Heaslip Maureen has a BSN from Western Connecticut State University and is a licensed RN in NY. Maureen started playing tennis here at Club fit and has been a USTA captain for more than 10 years. She enjoys introducing new players to tennis and the camaraderie and true friendships that happen on the tennis court. |
Hal Toussaint ![]() Tennis Program Director Born in Petion-Ville, Haiti, December 21, 1970: Harold was introduced to the game of tennis at the age of twelve. He found the most enjoyable moments in his life on the tennis court, as he rose to be the number 4 ranked player in his native Haiti. After completing his Bachelors Degree in Humanitarian Studies, he decided to follow his dream and compete in Satellite and Challenger tournaments in the Caribbean and the United States. He was named as the traveling coach in 1997 for Haiti's junior tennis team as they competed in NTT games (World Junior Tennis Competition). He continued his successful coaching career by obtaining his USPTA - P1 certification and High Performance coaching credential. |

Michael Chitu Michael has over 20 years of instructional tennis experience. He is P-1 certified to teach tennis by the USPTA. In 2010, he completed a course specializing in the development of a high performance player. He has been head tennis pro at Club Fit for eight years. Previously he taught tennis at the Dave Strebel Academy and at the Manhattan Square tennis club. For the two years prior to his arrival at Club Fit he was the head tennis coach for the Harley/Allendale Columbia high school in Rochester, NY. Michael is originally from Romania where he coached tennis for ten years. He earned his degree in physical education and sports in Bucharest, Romania in 1994. His major was in tennis coaching and team handball. While in Romania, he coached young students, at all levels who went on to be ranked on the junior tour. His strengths are in developing students of all levels and ages, with solid tennis form, skills, and game strategy. He is dedicated to his students and commands a great deal of respect for his commitment to bringing out the best in them.

Laura Gabella joins the Club Fit team after teaching at a club in the Hudson Valley where she was also the boys and girls tennis coach for a local high school for over 7 years. As a player, Laura was the 2002 NJCAA Champion in Singles and Doubles, former #1 singles & doubles for Pace University, and in 2008, earned a USTA National Grass Court Championships Bronze Ball in Women's Doubles. Laura is truly passionate about teaching and enjoys teaching players of all ages and ability levels. Peter Luck Peter Luck has been around the game of tennis all his life. As a junior player he was the NJ State High School B Champion in 2002, 2004, & 2005; New Jersey State Award for Top Singles Player 2005; New Jersey Athlete of the Year - Saddle River Country Day School; Singles Player of the Decade - Northern NJ (2000 - 2010); & National USTA Singles Ranking - Top 15 (16s & 18s). Collegiately, Peter was a member of the Pepperdine University National Championship team in 2006 and finishes his collegiate career at Marist College. Since college, Peter has worked as a teaching pro in the Hudson Valley but comes to us after being a staff pro at Sportime Kings Park. Peter is looking forward to helping players of all abilities bring their game to the next level. |
