Club Fit Briarcliff: a Look Back at 2019
Looking back at some of the fun Club Fit Briarcliff happenings of 2019
As we look forward to the coming year, we are also prompted to reflect on the year that has passed. And what a year it was! We had a full calendar of events happening at the Club and in our community. Just last weekend, we enjoyed a visit from Santa, and live music for Make Music Day, coordinated by Miriam Risko of Risko Music. With members’ help, we also collected much-needed warm winter accessories for the Midnight Run via St. Mary’s Food Pantry.
In November, we focused on gratitude during the month of “Fitsgiving,” with special events for members along with initiatives to benefit our community. We held a Zumba “Can-Can” event for the Ossining Food Pantry, a Boot Camp Boot Drive to collect donations for Soles4Souls, and collected over 400 pounds of food to benefit Feeding Westchester! We also welcomed Jon Pratt of Peter Pratt’s in, who led a free cooking demo for our members.
In October, Club Fit once again joined the fun at the annual Chappaqua Children’s Book Festival, honored our long-term members with our 25-Year Member Party, and enjoyed celebrating Halloween with staff costumes and our Energy Center kids parade.
September saw us out and about at the Westchester Medical Center Campus Cookout and the Mark Seiden Real Estate Carnival, from which all proceeds were donated to New Beginnings of Westchester.
We had quite a busy summer in Briarcliff as well, with our weekly Chill & Grill lunches on the deck, an Aqua-Zumba Master class with guest instructor Richard Gormley, our annual Ladies Member-Guest tennis event, and The opens in a new windowEat, Play, Love tennis fundraiser to benefit My Sisters’ Place. We also joined in a little friendly competition with our sister Club in Jefferson Valley for the Myzone “Game of Zones” challenge. And of course, it’s not summer without our Summer Camps!
We kicked off last spring at the annual WHUD Family Fun Fest in March. On March 9th, Club Fit Briarcliff once again hosted the annual opens in a new windowThink Fit For Kids event to benefit A Kids’ Brain Tumor Cure. In April, we enjoyed our annual visit from the Easter Bunny, and Personal Trainers Alex and Steve took it on the road to the Park School Health Fair to show the kids some moves. In May, we were delighted to host Yoga with Puppies to benefit Blue Path Service Dogs!
And we come full-circle as we look back to last winter. We held a fun “Kids Club Night” to help beat the cold weather cabin fever. We also braved the cold for Teatown’s annual Eaglefest at Croton Point Park, which will be happening again this year on February 8th.
Finally, taking it back to last January, we took advantage of Super Bowl fever to run a “Soup-er” Bowl to benefit Feeding Westchester. Thanks again to our generous members who supported this and our many other charity initiatives! We are excited to see what the new year will bring . . .
