“THE RIVERS EDGE OF PARADISE!”
This is a wonderful hike that loops and follows the Hudson River south of the Garrison train station. The trail winds around the bank of the Hudson River. There are several viewpoints to enjoy, some with comfortable benches. There is a lovely gazebo right behind the Garrison institute. You can see the Thayer Hotel, the hills, West Point, and mile long freight trains right across the river. There is also an old bridge that barely clears the Metro North trains as they diesel by. The trail winds down some zig zaggy trails, some lined with bamboo, and exotic plants. You pass an eerie looking abandoned haunted house. You also pass a historic area that Benedict Arnold made famous. Please bring plenty of water, & snack/lunch.
Hike Length: 3 miles | B Moderate Hike Time: 3-4 hours depending on weather & conditions
Meeting Place: 9am at the Garrison Train Station Trail is on the south east section of the parking lot. Parking is free on the weekends
