Picturesque and stunning, Mianus River Gorge Preserve with its rare growth forest can be inspirational. Founded in 1953, the Mianus River Gorge Conservation Committee was dedicated to preserving “the virgin forest and abundant wildlife along the Mianus River in Bedford, New Castle and Pound Ridge.” Mianus River Gorge Preserve was the first natural area to be designated a National Natural Historic Landmark. More than 70 transactions have increased the preserve to its present size, which is 719 acres. The trails are well marked, and consist of some ascents and descents.
Comfortable boots are highly recommended.
Hike Length: about 5 miles.
Hike time: 4 hours with lunch.
No dogs allowed. Rain cancels.
Bring lunch and water.

9 am Mianus River Gorge Parking Lot
167 Mianus River Road, Bedford NY 10506
Take 1-684 to exit 4 ( NY 172) and head towards Bedford Village. At NY 22, turn left, and then, at the grassy triangle in Bedford Village, take the right fork onto Pound Ridge Road. At the gas station, turn right onto Long Ridge Road. Take the first right onto Millers Mill Road, make the left turn just pass the bridge, and proceed to the preserve parking area.
No need to register. Just show up.
