Tennis Professional/Director of Junior Tennis Programs
A member of the Club Fit tennis staff since September 2005, David Hugues is a native Parisian which explains the “joie de vivre” he brings to the court every day. As a junior player, David competed in the French Tennis Federation, moving to the United States in 1995. Two years later, he graduated from New York University (NYU) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Advertising, and in 2010, David became a United States citizen.
David is a certified USPTA Elite Professional. In addition to teaching adult drill clinics and private lessons, he is also the Director of Club Fit’s Junior Development Program. As Director he is responsible for the coordination of programs and events for more than 350 junior players, both during the school year, and over the summer. In addition to his administrative duties, David has created a developmental path for the juniors in the program. Groups are divided by age and ability, and each player is provided with a written curriculum. This is available for those who wish to be USTA players, as well as those who only want to play recreationally. He has been involved in coaching a variety of USTA junior teams, ranging from the 10 and under team, to the 18 and under team.
David works closely with the Club’s Pro staff, parents and the juniors, themselves, to ensure that the program meets everyone’s individual needs. His earnest goal is to help each child develop a “love of the game,” and realize his or her full potential as a tennis player.
Lastly, David would like everyone to know that he is a proud, diehard New York Mets fan.
