Club Fit | Margo Smith

Tennis Professional/Women’s League Coordinator

Margo has been a member of Club Fit Briarcliff for over 20 years. It is her home away from home, where she looks to unwind with a weekly game of tennis or two. Margo grew up in Westchester, NY where her passion for tennis was founded in her adolescence, and she has been hooked ever since. Margo played singles in high school and doubles for a brief period in college. For a few years, Margo stepped away from the sport when she worked for a New York City advertising and public relations firm, while raising a young family. When her children became of school age, she returned to school as well, to earn a MA in Elementary Special Education and has been working ever since, as a learning specialist and tutor throughout Westchester. During this time she returned to tennis, starting out slowly with a weekly social game, then adding on league and USTA play. When that wasn’t enough, Margo took on the role of captain for many Club Fit and local teams and co-administered the Armonk Connecticut League Team.

As much as Margo enjoys playing tennis, she enjoys the mental aspect of the game even more. She finds that she has well satisfied this need serving for the last four years as the Coordinator for Club Fit’s Women’s leagues. Here she enjoys determining the best pairings for doubles competition and the best match-ups for singles play for more than 125 league participants. She loves to see the women get hooked on the game themselves and to get enjoyment and benefit from their league play. Moreover, Margo is a Club Fit Service Award Winner and loves watching the wonderful and long-lasting friendships that develop along the way. Margo is looking forward to welcoming many newcomers in the upcoming sessions.
