Thad is a native of the Sunshine State, and he grew up in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, which is located between Jacksonville and St. Augustine Beach on the North East coast of Florida. He trained under legendary Australian Tennis Coach, Harry Hopman.
He started to play tennis competitively as a 10-year-old and competed on state and national levels throughout his teenage years. He played in every national junior tennis tournament in the country from the 12 and under’s through the 18 and under’s. Thad obtained top five ranking in Florida and top ten in the nation during these years, with a semifinal showing in doubles at Kalamazoo Boys 16’s Nationals.
Thad attended the University of Nevada-Reno, a Division I School, and played in the Big Sky Conference Championships and placed runner-up in his division. Soon after college, Thad received his USPTA P-1 tennis professional certification. He taught throughout the Southeast at various five-star resorts and country clubs.
Over the past 20 years, Thad has been teaching in Fairfield and Westchester counties and had been the Director of Tennis at the Westchester Indoor Tennis Club. For the past 11 years in the Spring-Summer, Thad has been the Head Pro at Birchwood Swim and Tennis Club which is located in Chappaqua, NY where he coached the USTA National 2.5 Champions in 2014.
Thad’s hobbies are hiking, camping, boating and going to the beach.
