Bring lunch and water
This hike will start in the new parking lot on NY 301 and take the Appalachian Trail to Lake Canopus Beach, where we will take lunch. There are some steep, long inclines and a small creek to cross. The trail from the Appalachian Trail to the beach is narrow. We will take an extended lunch break with ample time to use the restroom and visit the snack bar and put our feet in the lake. The parking lot is on the south side of the road with a large sign, about 1.5 miles west of the Taconic State Parkway.

Michael has been hiking trails in the Hudson Valley since he was a young boy. He has been hiking with the hiking club for the past 10 years. Michael is Red Cross certified in adult first aid/CPR/AED and has been living in Yorktown since 1996 with his daughters.
