“Flowers, Fountains and Memorials”
You’ve seen Lasdon Park on Rte. 35 on your way over to Katonah. It’s still one of Westchester’s newest parks, boasting 234 acres of woodlands, meadows, and formal gardens. We’ll explore a variety of trails including the “Famous and Historic Tree Trail” where you’ll see the lovely and ornately decorated
“Chinese Friendship Pavilion,” given by Westchester’s sister city in China, situated next to a pleasant pond. Along theTrail of Honor we will discover memorials to the Merchant Marine, Korean Veterans, Vietnam Veterans, Gold Star Mothers and more.
Come and enjoy! Comfortable boots suggested.
Hike Length: 4 miles
Hike Time: 3-4 hours, including lunch. Rain cancels

Peter enjoys sharing his love of the forest trails with Club Fit members. His friends have always known where to look for him: “Outdoors!” First as a Cub Scout and a Boy Scout and then as a trained hike leader for the Appalachian Mountain Club. Peter has hiked and camped throughout the United States, parts of Canada, Europe and the United Kingdom.
Capt. Peter is also a professional sailing instructor, having taught for the New York Sailing School on City Island, The Appalachian Mountain Club, and for the Croton Sailing School and Ferry Sloops right here on the Hudson River.
After attaining his Masters License as a US Coast Guard Sailing Captain, Peter ran a charterboat business, “Caribbean Dream Charters,” out of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands taking guests out for week long, live aboard cruises. Each cruise was a week in paradise.
Peter Meskin and Andrew Stein started the Club Fit Hiking Club over 20 years ago and are both very proud to still be leading the hikes.
