Once a former estate, the Leon Levy Preserve is a 370 acre, scenic and tranquil retreat in a hardwood forest with extensive wetlands. Standing atop 75 foot high cliffs, hikers can peer down into a striking ravine. Stone walls and raised roadbeds are found throughout the property. The park’s namesake, Leon Levy, was a Wall Street Investor, founder of Oppenheimer Funds, who died in 2003. His widow, Shelby White, worked with the town to make sure this undeveloped land would be preserved, protected, and accessible to the community. The land was purchased by the Town of Lewisboro in 2005. The preserve has an extensive trail system which is comprised of some ascents and descents. The preserve also contains ruins of the Black Mansion (1899-1979)

Comfortable boots a must.
Hike Length: 3.5 miles.
Hike Time: 4 hours with lunch. Rain cancels.
Bring lunch and water.

Directions: From I-684, take Exit 6 (Route 35) and turn east. Continue 9.1 miles and turn right at the traffic light onto Route 123 just before the New York -Connecticut line. Continue south 0.3 mile and just after the sign for the preserve, turn right into the parking lot.
