Club Fit | Aquatics

Take the plunge… We have two large swimming pools to accommodate lots of swim activities. Our lap pool is kept just a little cool for our lap swimmers, and swim team participants. The warmer program pool also has lanes for lap swimming and is the pool used primarily for swim lessons and group aquatic classes. Our waterfall section of the program pool is the perfect place for our littlest swimmers to play. The whirlpool is for members and guests age 18 and over. Please note the precautions for use listed at the whirlpool area, or refer to our Aquatics Rules & Policies Page.

All our water is kept clean and safe using an innovative mixed-oxidant disinfectant system. Our water will feel gentler on your skin.

Make sure your whole family practices water safety. We have lessons for 6-month-olds through adults — all our swim instruction is American Red Cross certified. Kids younger than 14 years old can use our lap pool if they have passed a lap swim evaluation. Kids under 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult in our Aquatic Center unless they pass a junior swim evaluation or are in an aquatics program. Please see a lifeguard to schedule an evaluation.

For the Lap Pool: 70 Lengths = 1 Mile (1 Length = 25 Yards)
The Lap Pool is for lap swimming or lap exercise. Children under the age of 14 may lap swim upon completion of a lap swim evaluation – swim 2 continuous pool lengths.

During busy periods, circle swimming is appropriate. When looking to join a lane for circling swimming, observe the speed of other swimmers to select a lane that is appropriate for you. Then notify swimmers in the lane that you would like to join them. A 30-minute swim time limit is enforced during busy periods.

Keep track of your laps and earn a Club Fit reward every 100 miles in our lap swim club. A lifeguard can help you get signed up for this free program. We will reward 3 lap swim cards per year per person.

Pool Temperatures
We offer different classes and skill levels to accommodate each student’s individual swimming goals. Lessons are taught in a fun-filled environment where children learn the basic techniques of swimming and safety skills are emphasized. Water temperature is kept at a temperature of 86 degrees in the Program Pool and 81 degrees in the Lap Pool, an ideal for comfort.

Bad Weather
The Aquatics Center closes for 30 minutes from the last sound of thunder or sighting of lightning, which on some days may be reoccurring. To inquire if the pool is open or if your class has been canceled due to thunder or poor road conditions, please contact the front desk at (914) 245-4040 for the most up-to-date information.

Limited Usage
During Physical Therapy and when an exercise class in the Program Pool has more than 12 participants, a lap lane, and the shallow end are unavailable. During Swim Lessons, instructors may need to use nearly half the Program Pool, however, the deep end will be available. In addition, the lap lane of the Program Pool may be used by any member as well as for Swim Lessons. We ask that you kindly inform current swimmers that you wish to share the lane.

Open Swim
Open swim is available for adults and children in the recreational section of the program pool. No flotation devices are permitted. Children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times in the Aquatics Center. Children’s swimming ability must be evaluated in order for them to swim by themselves.

The Program Pool waterfall can be turned on upon request; during open swim or when aquatic classes, lessons or courses are not scheduled.

Peak Usage
Free swim is available at all times in the Aquatics Center, however, the busiest times are weekdays between 4:00 and 7:00pm and weekend mornings. When an exercise class in the Program Pool has 20 or more participants, free swim is not permitted in the Program Pool. July through August, camp will use the Program Pool weekdays from 12:00 – 2:00pm, therefore lap swimming in the Program Pool will be unavailable during this time.
