Still Charging the Court at 86
At 86 years old, Bob is still charging the court and making waves at Club Fit.

A Competitive Spirit Sparked Early
A retired clinical social worker, Bob discovered his athletic edge in handball and racquetball as a young man. Frustrated with being underestimated, he trained relentlessly at the YMCA, earning respect from seasoned players and building a strong foundation through the track, pool, and weight room.

Tournaments, Grit, and Glory
Bob’s competitive drive led to multiple doubles tournament wins with his partner Marty, known for his spin and precision. One unforgettable Thanksgiving singles match saw Bob facing a powerhouse from Brooklyn. With unmatched conditioning and mental grit, he chased down every ball—and reached the finals.

A Motto for Life
Bob lives by a personal motto: “If I focused, I could learn. I could challenge myself.”

Club Fit: His Training Ground Since 1985
Since moving to Yorktown in 1985, Club Fit has been Bob’s training ground. Despite medical setbacks, he fought to return to the court and now plays racquetball every Tuesday and Thursday, trains in the program pool on Sundays, and is even eyeing our HIITROW classes.

Living With Purpose
Known for his locker room jokes and friendly spirit, Bob stays active not only to play racquetball but to live with purpose. A self-proclaimed “athlete” and “warrior against the debilitation of aging,” he stays committed to strength, cardio, and social connection—often walking and chatting with friends in the water.

Mind, Body, and Community
With a resting heart rate of 70, Bob credits racquetball for keeping him in peak shape and takes a Zen-like approach to life, often asking himself: “Am I a server or just a visitor?”

The Power of a Posse
For Bob, the secret is simple: “The most important thing is your posse.” And at Club Fit, he’s found his.
