Holiday Health Tips from Our Fitness Directors: 10 Ways to Maintain Healthy Habits

November 2025

The holiday season is full of parties, travel, and endless treats but that doesn’t mean your healthy habits have to take a back seat. Between family gatherings, busy schedules, and tempting desserts, it’s easy to let your usual routine slip. But staying active and keeping your fitness goals on track is easier than you think with a few simple adjustments. With a little planning, mindful choices, and the right mindset, you can enjoy the holidays and feel good doing it. Our fitness directors are here to share their top tips for maintaining your holiday fitness, staying energized, and keeping your healthy habits on track all while still enjoying the season.

1. Stay hydrated
Drink up! Aim for at least half your bodyweight in ounces of water each day. Staying hydrated keeps your energy levels up and helps you make smarter food and drink choices.

 2. Mix up your drinks

If you’re skipping alcohol, go for club soda with lime, it looks festive and helps you stay on track. If you do drink, have a glass of water between cocktails to stay balanced.
3. Move early
Get your workout in before the festivities begin. An early sweat session helps you stay committed to your holiday fitness goals and lets you enjoy those treats guilt-free later.
4. Outsmart sugar cravings
When the dessert table calls, try brushing your teeth or chewing gum. It can curb cravings for something sweet.
5. Pack protein for the road
Traveling? Bring high-protein snacks like nuts, jerky, or protein bars. Having healthy options on hand helps you avoid fast-food traps and stay fueled.
6. Load up on veggies
At parties or family dinners, fill half your plate with fruits and veggies first. They’re nutrient-rich, satisfying, and help keep calories in check.
7. Don’t arrive starving
Eat a small, healthy meal before heading to a holiday gathering. It’s easier to make smart choices when you’re not ravenous.
8. Enjoy in moderation
Go ahead and indulge, just get back to your healthy habits the next day. One party won’t derail your progress unless you let it turn into a pattern.
9. Reward your effort
Remember to celebrate your consistency. Rewarding yourself (with rest, a new workout outfit, or a quiet moment) helps reset your motivation and mindset.
10. Keep it fun
Fitness doesn’t have to feel like a chore during the holidays. Take walks with family, dance at parties, or join a festive group class. The more fun you make it, the easier it is to stay active.
The holidays are about balance enjoying the moments while maintaining your holiday fitness goals. With a little planning and intention, you can head into the new year feeling strong, healthy, and proud of yourself.
